TikTok removed from Play Store ,after Government Bans 59 Chinese Apps


Why Were these apps banned?

TikTok and 59 other chinese apps  has been removed from Play store as well as App Store after government’s decision to ban them. According to Ministry of Information and Technology, these apps were a threat to India’s security and society. They also stated that these apps violated privacy norms and stored the data outside India. The government has also asked the ISPs and telecom companies to help impose this ban. This means that if you already  have installed TikTok on  your mobile phone then you will be able to use it but if you remove it or don’t have it at first hand then you won’t be able to get it now.

In its statement, the central government said, “invoking it’s [sic] power under section 69A of the Information Technology Act which read with the relevant provisions of the Information Technology (Procedure and Safeguards for Blocking of Access of Information by Public) Rules 2009 and in view of the developing nature of threats, the government has decided to block 59 apps since in view of information available they are engaged in activities which is prejudicial to sovereignty and integrity of India, Defence of India, security of state and public order.”

Though many apps have still not being removed till now even after being on list like ShareIt is still available for download, it was on the 2nd position n the list. Many other apps like CamScanner, Shein and Clash Of Kings. some apps like Helo, have been removed already but Likee is still available on play store.

Although TikTok has been removed earlier, but it  has always comeback quickly,  but now it has been blocked with other 59 chinese apps due to tensions between India and China. Now we have to see whether it will return or not.
