RHA-MA 390 Universal

RHA MA 390: Best Earphones under 2000

Now, there’s a reason why the RHA-MA 390 earphones are on top of our list of Best Earphones under 2000. Firstly, it might be the case that you haven’t heard of this brand. RHA is a Scottish brand that is popularly known as the ‘Aston Martin of Headphones‘ across the globe. This is the cheapest pair of earphones that the company makes.

These earphones feature a great build quality aided by aluminium housing, braided cable and rubber paddings. The braided cable resists tangles and allows rough usage. the universal remote control unit allows play/pause, changing tracks and triggering Google Assitant or Siri. Note that similar to many other earphones, this one lacks volume adjustment controls through the controller.

As far as the sound quality is concerned, it comes with a loud and rich in bass sound profile. Though the bass is really good, it does affect the mids, adulterating vocals by a slight margin. Hence, it might not be suitable for true audiophiles, but if in case you are a bass lover, you are going to love them for sure. One good thing which we noticed is that the highs don’t sound that sharp, making them comfortable for long usage without worrying for fatigues. In a word, these have a little warmth in the bass with natural vocals and treble.

Summing up, RHA MA 390 is one of the best earphones under 2000. They come with impressive build quality, 3 years warranty, great audio quality (especially for bass lovers) at a great price.

Note: Unfortunately, the RHA MA 390 does not work with the Nexus Phones.

SoundMagic E10C

Though SoundMagic is not a big brand, it offers great audio products and the SoundMagic E10C is one of the best examples for the same.

The design and looks are one of the main USP of these earphones. It is available in three colour options including Red, Blue and Black. The raw metal accent coupled with colour strips adds to the beauty. And the best part is that the earbuds are completely crafted out of metal. Also, we do have a braided cable that carries a PVC casing for enhanced feel. The provided earbuds are quite large in diameter for better bass and noise isolation.

Additionally, a mini-adapter cable is present in the package which lets you plug the earphones into laptops with separate earphone and mic sockets.

These earphones rely on extra bass to provide a rich audio experience. Additionally, they offer a wide soundstage and decent treble detail, maintaining the audio balance, yet offering great bass. The sound signature suits most of the people in general and you can’t go wrong with these earphones. The red one costs Rs. 1,299 while the others are priced at Rs. 1,799 (as of now).

Sennheiser CX275 S

Sennheiser CX275: Best earphones under 2000

We can’t really ignore Sennheiser when it comes to best earphones under 2000. The Sennheiser CX 275 S comes with a respectable audio quality at a great price. These earphones are designed very well and come with an extra adapter to support devices that are not compatible with the standard 3.5mm audio jack. The jack present on these is crafted in an L shape for better convenience and durability of wire.

The single button given on the remote control unit allows the user to play and pause tracks in addition to answering and terminating calls. Unfortunately, volume controls are missing here.

Coming to the Audio, the CX 275 S sports a frequency response of 17 – 23000 Hz and impedance of 16 Ω. The sound quality goes on par with claims of the brand i.e. bass-driven stereo sound. These have a perfect balance of highs, mids and lows, however, having a slight boost in lows for decent bass. Though the bass is present, it is not suitable for rich bass lovers, because the sound is near to flat most of the times. The vocals don’t faint and sound very clear and crisp even at high volumes. The microphone present onboard performs great as well during calls and voice recordings.

Although having a right sound quality, these earphones fail in aspects of durability and features. The cable is not that strong and won’t be able to handle rough usage. Also, the housing of the earbuds is made out of plastic which makes it easy to damage them when used carelessly. You can buy them from Amazon for as low as Rs. 1,600.

Sony MDR-XB30EX

Sony MDR XB5AP: Best earphones under 2000

The Sony MDR-XB55AP is the best that Sony has to offer under 2K. These earphones come with a design that excels in looks and feel in addition to being extremely durable, to be frank, a lot better than the Sennheiser CX275 S. These don’t look cheap from any angle, the provided earbuds are relatively bigger in size which is crafted out of metal.

The MDR-XB55AP is available in 3 colour options including Blue, Black and White, out of which, the black looks most elegant and classy. A largeThe SONY branding is present on each earbud, which might not suit a few of you.

The equipped cable is thick and flat in nature to avoid the tiresome tangles. The inline remote control unit sports a single button for controlling music playback and answering and rejecting calls and has a mic as well. However, these earphones skimp on volume controller so you need to look for your phone everytime you want to switch between music.

The angular profile ensures that the earbuds fit properly and provide maximum noise isolation, hence preventing the audio leakage. In terms of sound quality, Sony has fine-tuned the MDR-XB55AP to deliver a heavily pumped bass powered by large 12 mm neodymium drivers. The sound signature is suitable for listening EDMs, Bollywood and hip-hop music. The audio stays intact even at high volumes. However, the separation between highs and lows ain’t that great which results in muffled up audio in a few cases. Despite this, you are going to love the bass and with a little tweaking in the equaliser, these can top the list of the best earphones under 2000.

These are available for Rs.2,100 on Amazon. Make sure that you don’t mistake them as XB55 which are different earphones, the exact model number is XB55AP.

MRP: Rs. 2,100

1More Piston Classic

1More Classic: Best earphones under 2000

1More used to manufacture earphones for Xiaomi and Asus sometime ago. It was last year when they entered the market with their own range of earphones. The 1More Piston Classic is one of the great Value for Money earphones you can get in India.

The 1More Piston has a sleek design and a great build quality compared to other in-ears in this price range. These are quite durable against rough usage and are completely crafted out of metal.

The earbuds are quite small but the fit could have been a bit better. They are comfortable to wear but might not be suitable for running and gymming. The brushed metal finish makes them look premium and classy.

The inline remote control unit offers a three-button control for controlling music, answering and rejecting calls and increasing or decreasing the playback volume. The buttons are well spaced out on both the sides and offer a good tactile feedback. One of the downsides with these earphones is their wire quality which doesnt live up to expectations.

Coming to the sound quality, they are rich in bass and provide warm trebles. However, the mids may distort a bit and appear muddy at times. They are good for people who love boomy bass but not for audiophiles. The Noise isolation is neither good nor bad, but it does work at higher volumes. The quality of the inline microphone is good though.

These premium earphones cost Rs. 1,499 and can be brought from Amazon.

MRP: Rs. 1,499
